Succesful multidisciplinary education takes more than having a number of professors teach their own specialist subjects. You need to transcend your field and determine your own role in the whole complex subject matter. This is also what students have to do when they will work in society later in life. And this will only be feasible if you sit together and develop a common vocabulary. If you don't, you leave developing multidisicplinarity to the students.
